To Recognize A Stroke – Have Someone “SAS” You! by Joe Sabah

1
Joe Sabah

I was blessed to meet one of my mentors, advisers and friend two years…Joe Sabah. I had heard about his program, How to Speak for Fun and Profit, from several of my associates, so I made the leap. Little did I know the journey and the friendship that would ensue.

Today, I am also blessed to have Joe as my adopted Colorado Grandpa.

Joe is a 9-1/2 year stroke survivor…he celebrated his 82 birthday this year. Joe is on a mission to Save Lives…his message resonates this holiday session.

My husband’s uncle had a stroke a few years back which eventually claimed his life. Two weeks ago, an associates wife had a stroke…she just came home, they have a three year old.

To Recognize A Stroke - Have Someone "SAS" You!To Recognize A Stroke – Have Someone “SAS” You!

by Joe Sabah

This timely post is all about recognizing a stroke!
Hardly a month goes by without my getting a phone call or email saying
“Did you know … had a stroke”

STROKES ARE PREVENTABLE and the Severity of aftereffects is reduced if caught in a timely manner.

The lesson for ALL OF US: Watch and listen for unusual signs.

Yvonne Bryant - Smile It Pays to be Happy at Work

Smile

Have them smile. If their face droops, or one side is lower than the other, CALL 911!

Raised Arms

Arms

Have them lift both arms over their head. If one arm cannot come up, or if one side of their body is not responsive, CALL 911!

Smooth Sentences

Sentence

Have them repeat a simple sentence, such as “Mary had a little lamb.”
If their words are slurred, or if they replace a word with a nonsensical one (Mary had a little baby) CALL 911!

Something this simple can be the first signs of a stroke.

Getting someone to the hospital BY AMBULANCE within 2-3 hours gives them a chance for a FULL RECOVERY.  Paramedics know the location of the nearest stroke hospital.

I promise that I will continue to send out “these alerts” regularly.

MY GOAL: To reduce the incidence of stroke in the US from 770,000 a year to 650,000.

As a 9 1/2 year stroke survivor, I’m out to SAVE LIVES!

Please help me spread the word … pass this on.  You can help by forwarding this message to all members of your FAMILY or posting it in your newsletter

It is strange how life works…A couple of weeks after I posted Joe’s tips above, a family member had a stroke.
