Yvonne C. Bryant, AIA
by Consuelo Redhorse, Women of the Summit
In April, Women of the Summit welcomed Yvonne Bryant to speak at the monthly luncheon on the topic, “How to Polish Your Public Speaking”. At this meeting, Yvonne shared her expertise in effective communication, a skill that is integral to her professional career and personal achievements.
Yvonne Bryant, in her various leadership roles within Toastmasters International (including past positions as President and Vice-President of Education), has helped many others to develop communication and leadership skills. Within this organization, she continues to make an impact; acting as a mentor to help others “ identify” and then attain their goals. Currently, Yvonne is serving her second term as both VP of Education for Summit Toastmasters and Area Governor to seven Toastmaster clubs on the Western Slope. She has found that involvement in Toastmasters has provided her with the means to reach the level of professionalism and leadership that she needed to achieve her goals.
Yvonne has served on multiple Committees/Boards with the American Institute of Architects over the last ten years and currently serves as the Summit/Grand Counties Director for the Colorado West Chapter. Yvonne also serves as the Vice-Chair on the Town of Dillon Planning and Zoning Commission and is their liaison with the Parks and Recreation Committee. Through her involvement, Yvonne has gained important insights into local community dynamics and the importance of consensus building.
Through her community involvement, Yvonne finds personal growth by helping others reach their goals. Not stopping there, she helps identify possibilities that may not have been considered and encourages everybody to step outside of their comfort zones.
This process, in turn, has helped Yvonne evolve into a strong woman in a leadership role, and has strengthened her role as a mentor. As part of her most recent project, Yvonne hopes to mentor others through motivational public speaking and increased exposure to organizations whose missions align with her personal values. This new project, which pushes Yvonne outside of her comfort-zone, is the 2013 Mrs. Colorado America pageant! Yvonne was recently selected to compete in the pageant as Mrs. Summit County and she is excited about the competition and opportunity to represent the women of our beautiful state.
In addition to her community roles, Yvonne is owner of Motus Design Group based in Dillon. As an architect, planner and interior designer, Yvonne must have the skills to effectively present her plans and designs in order to provide leadership, build strategic alliances, cultivate professional relationships and, ultimately, achieve common goals. She works closely with clients to determine their business needs, then develops a vision and solutions that are in alignment with their project goals.
While Yvonne certainly stays busy with her professional and volunteer roles, she enjoys much of her “downtime” outside, enjoying mountain hikes with her husband of fourteen years, Evan, and their yellow lab, Cheyenne. Another favorite outdoor pastime of Yvonne’s (that you might find surprising!) is dirt-biking, especially around Montezuma. Whether you meet Yvonne in a professional or community setting (or on the mountain) you will find her enthusiasm and leadership contagious!
We are happy to present Yvonne Bryant as the Featured Member of Women of the Summit and would like to thank her for her ongoing support!
